🎯 Skills Gained: Knots, Ties & Outdoor Survival Skills (no additional costs)

🔹 Survival skills: Learn knots for camping & rescue
🔹 Teamwork: Rope games & challenges: “THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!”
🔹 Trip to Kariya Park Scavenger Hunt (to be confirmed by mid-June. Permission forms will be distributed once trips are finalized).
🔹 Trip to the Fire Station on Thur. July 31 from 10 am -11 am (Station 118 for St. Raymond; Station 121 for St. Veronica). There is no cost to visit the Fire Station.

All ages: With the help of coaches, campers will learn to create a floor plan from the entrance to the classroom when designing their own “The Floor is Lava” game. This could include a pully system or simple knots and ties in rope to help them navigate to the classroom without touching the floor. Campers will also work in teams. It’s not a race. Just don’t touch the floor because…THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!!

Benefits

Learning to tie knots develops fine motor skills, spatial awareness, problem-solving abilities, and sequential thinking. It also enhances visual perception, memory, and attention to detail, as well as providing practical skills applicable in various contexts.

“The Floor is Lava” encourages imagination, creativity, and teamwork while challenging the campers’ physical abilities, gross motor skills, balance, coordination, risk and reward, communication, and perseverance.
Visiting the firemen at their fire stations gives campers the opportunity to learn about fire safety and emergency protocol. The campers are often allowed to aim the fire hose at a target and get to sit in the Fire Truck.

Each week, parents have the option to register their child(ren) to be a “Manners Planner”. These moments take place during lunch time. Manners Planners will team up and enjoy a gamified activity that encourages setting the “dining” table for the team for lunch, learn dining etiquette, clear with peers, swish the dish, put away then play. This component of camp is designed to encourage kids to be a consistent contributor to the family unit no matter how big or small.

Ask about our pickleball programs. Don’t know how to play? That’s ok! We can teach you. Warning! It’s addictive. Also, ask about our free youth basketball programs in the fall for grades 4 and up.
