The Lead The Way program is a dynamic initiative that not only emphasizes the importance of community service but also provides volunteers with a myriad of benefits. Participants in Lead The Way gain valuable employable experiences by engaging in a comprehensive coaches training program supported by aids from Canada Basketball, Coaches Canada, and the Ontario Basketball Association.
The volunteers contribute towards meaningful causes through the DARE to LOVE Sports Club programs, showcasing their acquired leadership skills and coaching expertise. The Lead The Way program fosters organizational and social skills, enhancing team spirit, fellowship, and fun among its members.
Core components
Before the season begins:
- Volunteers participate in a coaches training program. (Aids from Canada Basketball, Coaches Canada and Ontario Basketball Association)
During the season:
- Newly learned skills will be implemented in DARE to LOVE Sports Club programs
- Additional skills will be implemented for community team purposes
- Tournaments can be conducted by volunteers as they take the roles of coaches, convenors and officials
